River Cottage Organic Wines
After some inspiring tasting and blending sessions with Vincent Chansault of Domaine Gayda, I have personally developed three new wines as a starting point for my Organic Wine Circle. In creating these original wines, we are leaving behind traditional heavy, tannic reds and oak-laden whites, in pursuit of elegant, lighter reds and more balanced, fresher, aromatic whites.
And so our red, with soft tannins and bright berry aromas, is The Lark; our white, fruity yet flinty, is The Finch; and our sparkling (or ‘crémant’ as it is known in the Languedoc) The Warbler which proves that you don’t need any added sugar to create a beautifully elegant, soft-bubbled fizz.
In these, our first River Cottage organic wines, I hope to create opportunities for you to discover a style of wine that brings a little more life and light to your glass. This mission will continue as we search out other great wines from the Languedoc and beyond.

Domaine Gayda
Domaine Gayda is an inspiring, regenerative, organic vineyard in the Languedoc region of Southern France. The Gayda team is doing brilliant work throughout the estate to enhance biodiversity and protect nature. This, along with the pioneering spirit of modern organic winemaking embodied by head winemaker Vincent Chansault, makes Gayda the prefect partner to create some brilliant new wines for us at River Cottage.
Gayda wines are well-known and appreciated amongst many “in-the-know” wine-lovers in France, as their plethora of top tier awards will testify. While the estate remains an artisan, organic producer, rooted in the landscape and community of the Languedoc, their wines are beginning to establish a world-wide following. It’s my pleasure to include a selection of Gayda’s award-winning organic wines in my Organic Wine Circle, and I’m sure you will enjoy discovering them.
